New Year’s resolutions
The Christmas presents have been opened, the countdown to 2020 has finished, and we have somehow found ourselves in a new decade within the blink of an eye (no pun intended!). Now, we are all familiar with the need to change things up come the 1st of January. As for you, you may want to completely reinvent yourself, or finally book that once in a lifetime getaway.
Whatever your plans are this year, make sure that you stick to them. Better yet, why not make a New Year’s Resolution list to make sure that you are doing so? As cliché as this may sound, we believe that it is always good to have goals to aspire to. Just have a read of our suggested 2020 New Year Resolution ideas…
Read more
In the age of Netflix and BBC iPlayer, it may not be surprising that your bookshelf has gathered a fair bit of dust over the years. If this is the case for you, then get back on that reading material! Whether you love a good rom-com or a gripping thriller, there is always going to be that book for you. On top of this, there are so many benefits to reading. For example, you save electricity, and you get to escape into a world that you’ve created in your head.
Travel more
As the famous catchphrase goes, the world is your oyster. Speaking of this, is there somewhere in particular that you’ve been dying to visit for some time? Do you want to ensure that you get the best annual leave from work? If so, then be sure to pack your bags and jet off this 2020. Whether you’re off to Barcelona or Berlin, the beauty of travel is that you never know what you are going to experience or see.
Be more present
Dialling down those minutes spent on social media and simply living in the moment does wonders for your wellbeing. As cheesy as it may sound, you actually start to appreciate the environment that is around you. So, this 2020, why not set a time limit for your mobile phone usage? This will seem difficult at first, but you will soon get into the habit of not constantly relying on your little piece of technology.
Keep a journal
When it comes to promising yourself unique New Year’s resolutions, why not head over to your nearest stationery store and purchase a journal to use throughout the year? Whether you’re jotting down work-related or out of office activities, a journal is a perfect way to stay organised all year. You may also want to use your journal as a way of expressing your thoughts and emotions – whatever works for you!
Take a new hobby
How boring is it doing the same thing day in and day out? If you want to switch up your normal weekend routine this 2020, think about what you’re interested in and what you’ve always wanted to do. Have you always wanted to start a blog or vlog? Do you want to master some new recipes? Or perhaps you want to feel powerful by taking up Martial Arts classes? Whichever activity you’ve been longing to take part in, now is the perfect time to start.
Get back on that fitness regime
There is no better way to clear out those post-festive cobwebs than getting back on the fitness grind. Whether you’ve just signed up for a new gym membership, or you’ve booked that first spin class of the year, be prepared to feel amazing! Also, while at the gym, set yourself new fitness goals throughout the year to make sure that you are pushing yourself and staying in tip-top shape.
Eat more healthily
While you may still have some Quality Streets left over after Christmas, save these for another day and eat those greens. With the increasing influence of vegan recipes, eating healthily has never been more accessible. As well as this, not only is eating healthily is good for you, but the benefits it has for the environment are fantastic. So, this 2020, do your research and make the right dietary choices for you and the planet.
Get your finances in order
Now, it’s after Christmas and you may well be a little tight on money as the New Year fast approaches. The advantage of this is that it encourages one to budget and be a little bit more sensible with money. However, don’t just be sensible with money in January – make it a habit of getting your finances in order throughout the year. The key to this is prioritising your expenses and always asking yourself the question of “do I really need this?”
Stress less and be more optimistic
Life is too short to be stressed over the tiniest things that we simply have no control over! It is always best to just accept that things happen and to ‘ride the wave’, as they say. Therefore, regardless of what 2020 may have in store, promise yourself to always stay optimistic. A positive attitude leads to a positive life, after all.
Book an eye test
So we have obviously saved the best resolution until last! This 2020, why not see whether you have 2020 vision by doing an eye test? Booking a test only takes a matter of minutes, and the procedure of an eye examination is so simple. Also, if you do have to pick a pair of glasses for yourself after your eye examination, check out the glasses trends to look out for this 2020.
