Optical Lens Options
Lenses are a serious business and that is why we only work with the best UK prescription laboratories. Like our glasses, we only use the highest quality materials.
Standard Prescription Lenses
As such, your prescription glasses include lenses which are: thin, scratch-resistant and have an anti-glare coating.
For particularly strong prescriptions there may be an extra charge for super thin and ultra-thin lenses. As each eye prescription can vary substantially from one to the next, we prefer to price on an individual basis rather than issuing a one size fits all price list. This means our customers receive a price based on their exact prescription.
We will advise any additional charges ahead of ordering, and you can email a copy of your prescription to info@arlowolf.com for a quote.
Digital Media Lenses
Digital Media Lenses (also known as Digital Lenses or Blue Light Lenses) are a type of lens filter that blocks and absorbs blue light. Blue light or High Energy Visible (HEV) is part of the visible light spectrum which occurs naturally in daylight hours, or artificially from every day backlight digital devices including laptops, tablets, computers and mobile phones.
Excessive exposure to artificial blue light can cause tiredness, headaches, eye-strain and dizzy spells.
Can I purchase prescription blue light glasses?
You can certainly have blue light lenses alongside your prescription. Here at Arlo Wolf, Digital Media Lenses are available for an additional £25 with all optical frames. These are perfect for those who spend sustained periods of time using computers, smartphones, tablets or other digital media devices. Simply select the ‘Digital Media Lenses’ upgrade option when browsing our range of men’s and women’s prescription glasses.
Varifocal Lenses
Varifocal lenses are ideal for people who need to regularly switch between long and short distances on a daily basis, as they contain your distance and reading prescription in one. You can add varifocal lenses to any of our styles for just £50 per pair.
Lens Packages
We also offer an exhaustive list of lens packages. If you have any questions about your lenses or you would like a particular lens which you may currently wear, then please email prescriptions@arlowolf.com and we will be able to help.
Sunglasses Lens Options
All of our sunglasses come with UV400 lenses as standard. UV400 prescription sunglasses provide 100% protection from both UVA and UVB radiation. If you’re simply looking for UV400 lenses without a prescription, we have options for that too! We also offer the following sunglasses upgrade options.
Polarised Sunglasses
You can add polarised lenses to your order at checkout. Polarised lenses eliminate glare and block 100% of UV rays and therefore are ideal for driving and outdoor sporting activities. Glare occurs when sunlight reflects from horizontal surfaces such as the road and water, making it difficult to see.
Mirror Lenses for Sunglasses
You can also add coloured UV400 Mirror lenses at checkout. Mirror lenses are a stylish way to customise your Arlo Wolf frames.
Understanding your glasses prescription
Getting your lenses perfect is crucial, that’s why for some stronger prescriptions, we ask for a Pupillary Distance (PD) measurement. This allows us to craft your lenses to your exact requirement.
We recommend that every customer uses the PD tool to allow super accurate glazing, but we can glaze prescriptions up to +/- 3 SPH using the national average should you wish. For prescriptions stronger than +/-3 SPH we will need your PD measurement.
Whilst we can accommodate most prescriptions, for those which are particularly strong there may be an additional charge for glazing. We will always disclose this to you ahead of finalising your order.
On our blog, we’ve put together a guide to help you understand the ins and outs of your glasses prescription. Our optical team has also put together a visual infographic to help you understand exactly how prescription glasses work. Take a look!
